TRAINING BAND
The Training Band are a group of fledgling musicians tutored by their musical director Ali Howes, who also plays Principal Cornet in the Senior Band.
They rehearse on Tuesday evenings at 6.30pm at the Witney Methodist Church and welcome anyone looking to learn an instrument in a fun and friendly group.
For those wishing to learn the art of brass from scratch, we also have a beginners group where you can learn to play an instrument with no prior experience. This is on Tuesdays at 6pm, before the Junior Band rehearsal. If you are interested in learning an instrument please contact us here.

Our wonderful Training Band held their first internal contest this weekend; adjudicated by Guy James and overseen by the Training Band MD, Ali Howes.
Split into three groups - Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced - all 9 contestants played some fantastic pieces, most of them performing solo in public for the first time ever.
This is a great way for the individual members to showcase how much they have improved over the past few years, and for the audience to see how much hard work the band have put in.
